Works Services to A C Wickman

A C Wickman was one of Coventry's world-leading machine tool makers.  Before World War II, the factory was in Queen Victoria Street but by the beginning of the war, they had a factory in Torrington Avenue and one in Banner lane, next to the Standard shadow factory. The Banner Lane factory became the main factory after the war and the Standard shadow factory became Massey Ferguson.

There was a service road in front of the factories, running parallel to Banner Lane, where the buses discharged their passengers in the morning and, in the afternoon, waited for the workers to re-emerge.
