Broadgate circa 1939

This view is looking North from Broadgate, through Cross Cheeping towards the Burges.  The new Owen Owen store is prominent, presumably before it was bombed by the IRA bicycle bomb. On the right is what looks like an inspector's hut, but it could be a shelter for the pointsman.  Tram 66 is leaving Broadgate bound for Longford.  From the shadows and the attire of the pedestrians, it looks like a fine morning in early Spring.
